We cordially invite your participation in the 20th Congress of the International Musicological Society, to be held in Tokyo, Japan, from Sunday, March 19, to Thursday, March 23, 2017. This is the first of the IMS Congresses that takes place in Asia, and we truly hope that this Congress will become a meeting point where new research perspectives and creative ideas intersect.
In addition to free papers sessions, the Congress also hosts lectures by keynote speakers, round-table sessions, and RILM/RISM/RIdIM/RIPM sessions. Related events, such as concerts, workshops, and concert-symposiums, will also take place.
A limited number of travel funds will be awarded to scholars at their early professional stages (graduate students and post-docs with no full-time affiliation).
The main venue of the Congress is Tokyo University of the Arts, ideally situated in the center of Tokyo. Practical information regarding the venue will be found in the useful information section of this site.
The 2017 IMS Congress is co-organized by the International Musicological Society, The Musicological Society of Japan, and Tokyo University of the Arts.
